The First Universalist Church in Providence

Welcome to The First Universalist Church
in Providence

A warm, traditional congregation of believers in the heart of historic Downtown Providence, Rhode Island. Whether you are visiting the area, looking for a church home, or simply interested in what we do, we invite you to join us for Sunday worship (weekly at 10:30 a.m.) and our special seasonal services throughout the year.

ESL Classes (English as Second Language):

Each Tuesday and Thursday, 6 – 8 p.m., in the front of the Church School Room.

PICA Food Pantry & Outreach Ministry:

A joint project which we support through our membership in the Providence Intown Churches Association.  The PICA offices are in our building, as is the Food Pantry.  We collect non-expired, non-perishable food items for the pantry as part of     our morning Offering on the second Sunday of each month.

Our Church is also an institutional supporter of Crossroads Rhode Island (formerly Travelers’ Aid) nearby on Broad Street, and of the McAuley House.

Ladies Humane Society:

Founded on the 9th of October in 1832, during the cholera epidemic in Providence, it is the oldest such church-affiliated society in the United States.

Providence Convention & Visitors Bureau:

We are institutional members with PICA.

The Providence Athenaeum:

We are long-time institutional members.
