A warm, traditional congregation of believers in the heart of historic Downtown Providence, Rhode Island. Whether you are visiting the area, looking for a church home, or simply interested in what we do, we invite you to join us for Sunday worship (weekly at 10:30 a.m.) and our special seasonal services throughout the year.

FIRST UNIVERSALIST WORSHIP

Our service is a traditional, Protestant, ecumenically-informed service, connecting with centuries of Christian worship forms, and offered in a beautiful and historic sanctuary which features some of the very oldest American-made stained glass windows in the United States.

Sunday Morning Worship:

Sunday morning worship takes place at 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary. The Order for Morning Prayer (after the service in the Universalist Book of Prayer in use here since 1872).  We celebrate Holy Communion the first Sunday of each month. We extend to all our Lord’s invitation to His Table. In the summer, Sunday morning worship takes place at 9:30 a.m.

Children:
We welcome children of all ages.  Children are welcome in the Sanctuary.  If the child is getting restless, there is a rocking chair in the back of the Church so that parent and child can still participate in the service.

Sunday School and Child Care are available Sunday mornings during our service.  The Sunday School lessons are based on the same Biblical lessons the congregation is hearing in the Sanctuary.
